The Great Toilet Paper Shortage of 2020 sparked interest in bidets, and many American homes have subsequently gained momentum in toilet technology. Switching to a bidet (and using toilet paper made from recycled fibers) can help you live more sustainably, reducing deforestation and offsetting the vast amounts of water used in paper production.
It might be a complex and scary procedure to locate the correct bidet if you’re one of the many people who is adopting a bidet for the first time. That’s why, to locate the finest bidet, we spent over three months rigorously evaluating 19 of the most popular bidets on the market. Here are four of our favorites.

With endless, immediate warm water, the Toto Washlet K300 provides exceptional comfort and Performance. The K300 is the most costly bidet we examined, but it has all the bells and whistles you could possibly want in a bidet.
Bidet attachment of the highest quality: Tushy Classic 3.0 Bidet Attachment ($99, originally $129; hellotushy.com)
The Tushy Classic 3.0 is the bidet for you if you’re searching for a low-cost bidet that’s easy to set up, functional, and not excessively complex. We tried the Tushy Spa, not the Classic, while working on this report. (We’ve used the Tushy Classic before, but we didn’t put it through its paces for this tale.)
The Tushy Classic 3.0 had by far the most pleasant stream of all the attachments, and its adjustable nozzle made getting a thorough clean much simpler than with others. Even though it’s a basic bidet, it has a wide range of pressure and directional adjustment so you may discover what works best for you. We used modest pressures with attachments in general since their streams seemed more forceful than their electric equivalents.
The Tushy Classic was also straightforward to set up, with clear directions that anybody can follow, even if they aren’t especially handy. However, the most critical component of installing any bidet is ensuring that it is compatible with your toilet. You should also locate the water connections and practice removing your toilet seat ahead of time to ensure that you understand how everything works. Fortunately, the Tushy Classic is compatible with all two-piece and most one-piece toilets (more on this below). While we liked the Tushy attachment, we discovered that the technique for supplying warm water to the Tushy Spa — and all of the other Attachments for the bidet we tested — was ineffective.
Because a toilet only has a cold water source, you must connect a simple adapter like the Tushy to your sink’s hot water supply to receive warm water. Because there is no internal heater, the temperature of your water is entirely reliant on how soon the water in your sink heats up, and even then, you must rinse away the water that has been sitting in the hose before you can have a warm wash. As a result, if you wish to utilize warm water, we suggest getting the Tushy Classic rather than the Tushy Spa and avoiding attachments entirely. If you want a heated wash, we recommend upgrading to a complete bidet seat, such as the Alpha JX or Toto Washlet C2, which are two of our favorites.
The Tushy Classic 3.0 is an excellent bidet for beginners, and for little under $100, it’s a great deal. The Tushy is the most pleasant bidet attachment to use, with a mild yet efficient stream, uncomplicated installation, and easy-to-use controls, as well as adjustable pressure and direction. If you want extra amenities like warm water, a heated seat, or a dryer, you’ll have to pay a little more money – but believe us, it’ll be worth it.

We found the Alpha JX bidet seat to be the greatest overall bidet seat, with the most desired technology at the lowest price. Despite the fact that the Alpha JX won, the race between it and our runner-up, the Toto Washlet C2, was really close. Both include a heated seat, drier, complete control of the stream’s pressure and direction, and warm water, which you’d expect in a bidet in this price range. The Alpha JX, on the other hand, offers a limitless supply of warm water compared to the Toto’s restricted supply, which helped propel the Alpha to the top of our rankings.
Warm water may be provided by electric Seats for bidets in two ways. A tank incorporated inside the bidet is a simpler and less expensive option. This tank retains a certain quantity of water and keeps it warm; but, if the tank runs out of hot water, your wash will become chilly. It varies each bidet, but in most instances, these tanks supply roughly 20 to 30 seconds of warm water, which is sufficient for a regular wash. You’ll want a bidet with a coil heating system if you want a longer wash or hot water even if the bidet is utilized back-to-back. These bidets heat the water as it passes through the bidet, allowing you to sit and relax in the warm water for as long as you want.

During our testing, we saw a significant difference in comfort between an unlimited warm water supply and a restricted one (if you thought your shower turning cold is awful, wait till your bidet tank runs out). Normally, bidets with this coil heating technology cost upwards of $600, but the Alpha JX offers it for roughly $350, which is more than $200 less than its rivals.
Besides infinite hot water, the Alpha JX features a heated seat, a dryer and a fully customizable stream, all adjustable from a remote control. With clear buttons that are all labeled, it’s super easy to go through a wash and dry cycle, even if you’ve never used a bidet before. You can adjust the position, strength and temperature of the spray and see what level your settings are at with the small screen. Plus, the Alpha JX has a “Wash & Dry” button that runs through a complete wash and dry cycle with just one press.
The Alpha JX was very simple to install on our toilet, and although you do have to change your seat totally, we were surprised to discover that installing electric Seats for bidets in general isn’t any more difficult than adding Tushy Attachments for the bidet. However, because you’ll be removing your old toilet seat, determine whether it’s circular or elongated and get the appropriate bidet (more on this below).
Between the Alpha JX and the Toto Washlet C2, there are several advantages and disadvantages. Both of these bidets are wonderful and will look great on your toilet. The Alpha JX provides limitless warm water, while the Toto C2 has a little superior stream and dryer. Read on for our complete review of the Toto Washlet C2 if you want a relaxing experience and don’t mind a tank heating system.
Bidet seat for the runner-up: Toto Washlet C2 (starting at $366.87; amazon.com)
The Toto Washlet C2 is the bidet seat for you if you don’t require infinite hot water and want the greatest value on the most pleasant wash and dry experience on the market. It has a luxury wash and dry cycle and even includes additional functions like a deodorizer and a pre-mist that sprays your toilet bowl as you sit down, despite the fact that it has a restricted warm water supply owing to its tank.
The Toto Washlet C2’s key selling feature is its stream. It was the most comfortable bidet we tried, with a thick, aerated spray that provided the finest cleaning results. The Toto’s oscillation function was a terrific method to get a more thorough clean, and it also has a front wash and pulsating feature, however the pulsing function didn’t add much to the experience.
With a heavy yet gentle spray that adjusts to various levels so you can get precisely the perfect pressure, the Toto’s stream was probably the most pleasant we tried. The Toto’s stream seemed fuller and more comfy than the Alpha JX’s. The Toto’s stream’s adaptability was also improved, since the variations between each level were more subtle. When it detects someone sitting on the toilet seat, it automatically activates and sprays a mist over the bowl to lubricate the surface and keep it clean. The deodorizer is also self-contained, activating when you get up to help keep your bathroom smelling fresh.
The Toto C2’s controls are mounted on a sidearm rather than a remote like the Alpha JX. If you want a remote for added convenience or are concerned that a bidet with an arm will not fit in your bathroom, the Toto Washlet C5 is similar to the C2 but includes a remote and additional user profiles for about $50 more. However, we preferred the sidearm because, unlike the remote, all of the buttons are labeled, eliminating the need to decipher and memorize symbols, making it simple to operate even if you’ve never used a bidet before.
The Toto Washlet C2 is the bidet for you if you want a feature-packed bidet that will give you a wash so relaxing and effective that you’ll wonder how you ever got by with toilet paper. However, if the concept of endless hot water appeals to you, the Alpha JX or our premium option, the Toto Washlet K300, would be a better fit.

You’ll enjoy the Toto Washlet K300 bidet seat if you want the finest of the best in a bidet seat. This electric bidet seat has the same high-quality spray and dryer as the Toto C2 and C5, but instead of using a tank to heat water, the K300 uses a coil heating technology similar to the Alpha JX for fast, endless warm water.
The Toto Washlet K300 boasts the most features of all the bidets we examined, including the most effective and pleasant spray and dryer, along with the Toto C2 and C5. We can’t suggest the K300 highly enough if you have the funds.
When you combine the outstanding spray of Toto bidets with unlimited warm water, you get a genuinely wonderful wash. The K300 also offers all of the fancy added features found on the C2 and C5, such as an automated pre-mist and deodorizer, as well as the same remote as the C5. This remote allows you to establish user presets in addition to providing more easy control. So, after you’ve found your ideal seat, water, and dry temperatures, as well as your desired pressure and position, you can store it to one of two presets so you can have the perfect wash at the touch of a button.
The K300’s only significant flaw is that it’s only available in an elongated design, so if you have a circular toilet, you’re out of luck. If you have a circular toilet but still want a nice bidet, the Bio Bidet Bliss BB-2000, which comes in round forms, is a great option. The BB-2000 had the second-most comfortable spray experience, and it had a fantastic massage function that was our favorite spray pattern of any bidet we tested, on top of the oscillation stream found on many Seats for bidets.
So, if you want the best of both worlds and want opulent features, the greatest stream and dryer on the market, and an unending supply of hot water, the Toto Washlet K300 is the way to go.
Bidets: Everything You Need to Know
Bidets have so many features, shapes and technologies that it’s hard to keep everything straight. So if you need a little guidance, we’re breaking down Bidets: Everything You Need to Know so you can have a better buying experience.
Attachments for the bidet, which connect to your current toilet seat, are the most basic bidets. Consider the Tushy Classic 3.0: instead of replacing your seat, you’re just adding a small attachment underneath it. These attachments are by far the cheapest, but they come at the expense of a lot of comfort. For starters, the stream in all of the attachments we examined was far harsher than any of the electric Seats for bidets we tried. Plus, as previously stated, bidet seat attachments lack integrated electric heaters and depend on hot water from your sink, and none of the alternatives we examined became appreciably warm throughout our washing time.
You’ll need to upgrade to an electric bidet seat if you want consistent, adjustable warmth and greater control over the stream. Electric Seats for bidets are more expensive, but they provide a significant improvement in enjoyment. The streams are softer and more effective, the water really warms up, and you get extra features like a heated seat and a drier, which is one of our favorite features.
Electric Seats for bidets with a decent dryer are a terrific investment since they not only improve your toilet experience, but if you use the drier after your wash, you use less toilet paper, which is beneficial for the environment as well as your budget. With all of the bidets we examined, we expected to use less toilet paper, but we immediately discovered that Attachments for the bidet need you to pat dry, which uses exactly as much toilet paper as you’d typically use. As a result, if saving money on toilet paper is a major factor in your bidet decision, we strongly advise choosing one with a dryer.
Electric Seats for bidets now come in a broad range of prices owing to the variety of functions and technology offered. Tankless units (which employ a coil heater to give endless hot water) are often more costly than those with a reserve tank that stores enough hot water for a single usage. Most bidets with limitless hot water cost approximately $600, but our best selection, the Alpha JX, is a couple of hundred dollars less, making it a fantastic deal.
Once you’ve decided on a bidet, you’ll need to make sure it’ll fit in your toilet. The first thing you need do is determine if you have a one-piece or two-piece toilet. A one-piece toilet has no space between the bowl and the tank behind it, while a two-piece toilet has a gap between them. Almost all bidets will fit a two-piece toilet (you’ll simply have to verify the bowl form, but more on that in a minute), but certain one-piece designs won’t allow for an attachment. So, if you have a one-piece toilet, make sure it doesn’t have a French curve (where the toilet frame between the bowl and the tank bends up), and always measure the distance between the bowl and the tank to make sure it meets the specifications of your preferred bidet.
If you want an electric bidet seat, first determine if your bowl is elongated or spherical. Most bidets are available in a variety of sizes to accommodate both, so be sure the bidet you choose fits properly. Check out BidetKing’s compatibility guide to determine which metrics are which.
We won’t walk you through bidet installation step by step because it’s surprisingly simple — not much more difficult than replacing a toilet seat plus a little plumbing — and most instruction manuals are quite clear, but it’s worth noting that all bidets require you to remove your existing toilet seat. With attachments, you just reinstall the seat, however with electric Seats for bidets, you simply install the bidet onto your toilet and discard the old seat and lid. It’s a good idea to check out how your present seat installs first, since some lids have a quick-release feature while others screw off, so make sure you understand how yours works before proceeding.

Over the course of three months, we evaluated 19 bidets to discover the finest on the market. To do so, we installed each bidet and used it for at least two days, noting how effective and adaptable all of its functions were.
Our testing was divided into two categories: Performance and Design and quality. We tested each bidet in each category and looked at every element of it, from simplicity of installation to amount of functions, spray quality, and so much more.
The following is a list of all the tests we ran:
Performance
- General observations: While using each bidet, we took note of our general impressions and which features struck out the most, such as the comfort of the stream, the simplicity of the controls, the convenience of setup, and so on.
- Water temperature comfort: During each bidet’s wash cycle, we rated how pleasant the water temperature felt at each temperature level.
- Water temperature adjustability: We counted the amount of water temperature settings.
- Effectiveness of aim/directional spray: We took note of how well each bidet’s spray aimed and, if it was adjustable, the total range.
- Aim/directional spray adjustability: We counted how many settings each bidet’s spray had.
- Stream pattern effectiveness: We utilized each spray pattern on each bidet and recorded how big of a difference and how effective it was.
- Adjustability of stream patterns: On each bidet, we counted the number of streams and patterns.
- Spray comfort: We evaluated how pleasant each bidet’s spray was.
- Effectiveness of the dryer cycle: We put each bidet in the dryer and timed how long it took to dry.
- Dryer cycle adjustability: We counted the number of dryer settings on each bidet.
- We noticed if the dryer was too hot, too cold, too powerful, or too gentle when using it.
- Controls: We looked at how easy each bidet’s controls were to use and if they were difficult to understand out.
- Cleaning ease: We looked to see whether the bidet had an automated cleaning mechanism and if the nozzle could be cleaned manually.
- Setup: We timed ourselves while we installed each bidet, noting how long it took and how many steps and how difficult each installation was.
- Comfort of the seat: We sat in each bidet seat to evaluate whether it was comfortable.
- Number of essential features: We tallied the number of key features, which included whether the bidet had warm water, a drier, and a remote control.
- The number of extra features, such as pre-mist, heated seat, user settings, sterilization choices, stream patterns, infinite warm water, night light, slow-closing lid, and deodorizer, was tallied.
Design and quality
- Overall quality: We tested the bidet and were impressed by how solid the materials and components were.
- Overall look: Each bidet was graded based on its overall appearance.
- We looked at each bidet’s guarantee and graded them.
Everything else was put to the test.
Attachments for the bidet
Slimedge Attachment for Bio Bidet ($34.99, originally $59; amazon.com; $49, originally $59; biobidet.com)
This bidet attachment had the second-most pleasant stream after the Tushy, although it was still not as good as the Tushy. The front and back washes are controlled by a single knob, but you can’t modify the position beyond that.

The Omigo Element+ has a separate front and back wash rather than the Tushy’s broad adjustment, and it isn’t nearly as comfy.
Brondell SimpleSpa Dual Nozzle Thinline Bidet Attachment ($49.99; amazon.com)
The stream on the Brondell SimpleSpa Thinline felt thin and more aggressive than the other Attachments for the bidet we tried. It wasn’t a comfortable experience and we’d definitely recommend the Tushy if you’re looking for a low-cost bidet.
Seats for bidets
Toto Washlet C5 (from $416.87 on Amazon.com)
This bidet is a slight upgrade from our Bidet seat for the runner-up, the Toto Washlet C2, adding a remote control and the ability to set two user presets. It’s a fantastic bidet with an ultra-comfortable stream and dryer.
Brondell LE89 Swash Electronic Bidet ($269.99 on Amazon; $289.99 on Brondell.com)
With a pleasant and efficient stream, this bidet is a good choice. Its spray wasn’t nearly as good as Toto’s, and its dryer didn’t cover as much ground as Toto’s, but it was still comfy, and we had a great time using it.
Brondell LE99 Swash Electronic Bidet ($279.99 on Amazon; $309.99 on Brondell.com)
Brondell’s LE99 Swash is quite similar to the LE89, except instead of a sidearm control panel, it has a remote control that allows you to alter all of the settings. It’s a good bidet, much like the LE89, but the dryer might need some work.
Swash DS275 by Brondell ($379 at HomeDepot.com or $399 at Brondell.com)
The Brondell Swash DS275’s spray wasn’t as good as the Toto Washlets’. We didn’t think the dryer was as effective as the Toto’s, as we did with the other Brondell bidets. It has a massage function and a deodorizer, but we believe the Toto C2 and Alpha JX oscillators do a better job, and if you want a deodorizer, go with a Toto.
The Alpha iX Hybrid Bidet Toilet Seat with Remote ($241.20; amazon.com or $246.75, originally $329; bidetking.com) is a hybrid bidet toilet seat with a remote control.
The Alpha iX Hybrid uses coil heating technology to instantly heat your water, just like the Alpha JX, but it’s not as good as its more full-featured sibling. Throughout our tests, the temperature fluctuated greatly and became frigid during the wash. The spray was also thinner and less pleasant than that of several of the other chairs we tried.
Coway Bidetmega 150 (beginning at $296.60; amazon.com; alternatively starting at $319; coway.com; originally $399)
The spray on the Bidetmega 150 wasn’t as pleasant as the Toto’s or the Alpha JX’s, and the dryer wasn’t as efficient as either of our top recommendations. Furthermore, of all the bidets we evaluated, installing the Coway bidets was by far the most difficult. Because the T-valve that connects your bidet to your bathroom’s water line is separated into pieces, you’ll need to obtain the right adapters to connect the bidet. It adds a second, perplexing step to the process while also increasing the number of sites where the connection may leak.
Coway Bidetmega 200 Electric Bidet Seat for Round Toilets ($282.40; amazon.com; $359; coway.com)
The Bidetmega 200 is similar to the Bidetmega 150, except it has a remote control instead of a sidearm. It didn’t have the greatest stream or dryer, and it was more difficult to install than other bidets, such the Bidetmega 150.
Luxury Seats for bidets
Bio Bidet BB-2000 Bliss Bidet Toilet Seat ($524.25, originally $699; biobidet.com or $699; amazon.com); Bio Bidet BB-2000 Bliss Bidet Toilet Seat ($524.25, originally $699; biobidet.com or $699; amazon.com)
If you can’t locate the Toto K300, the Bio Bidet BB-2000 Bliss is a good alternative. Although it didn’t work as well as the Toto K300, it has a really nice spray and dryer, and its massaging function was our favorite stream pattern of all the bidets we examined. The remote is more intricate than the Toto’s, so learning what all the symbols signify and what they do takes some time.
Tushy Ace ($599; hellotushy.com) is a toss-up between a Tushy and a Tushy.
The Tushy Ace was another strong luxury candidate, but it couldn’t compete with the Toto K300’s stream and dryer comfort. It also lacks the added functions included in the K300, such as user settings, pre-mist, and a deodorizer. If you’re a Tushy fan, though, you won’t be disappointed.
Bidetmega 400 by Coway (beginning at $419, originally $599; amazon.com; $479, originally $599; coway.com)
The installation method for the Coway Bidetmega 400 was comparable to that of the lesser Coway bidets. Even while the Bidetmega 400 has more features than the 150 and 200, its spray wasn’t as pleasant or effective as other top competitors, despite going through a four-stage cleaning cycle unique to Coway bidets. It’s a wonderful luxury bidet, but we believe you’d be better served by a Toto or the Bio Bidet Bliss BB-2000 if you’re prepared to pay a little more.
Swash 1400 by Brondell ($649; brondell.com or amazon.com)
The Brondell Swash 1400 and the Omigo Luxury Bidet seemed to be the same bidet seat with slightly different branding. The Swash 1400 didn’t have the most pleasant stream, and the dryer only seemed to cover half of the required area. We suggest the Toto K300 or the Bio Bidet Bliss BB-2000 if you’re willing to spend this much money on a bidet.

The Omigo Luxury Bidet featured the same feel and appearance of the Brondell Swash 1400, as well as the same issues, such as a weak spray and ineffectual dryer.
