Chris Thompson, the former fifth-round pick of Washington Redskins in 2017, was signed to a practice squad contract by the Chicago Bears on September 2.

The “chris thompson news” is that the Bears have signed RB Chris Thompson to their practice squad. The move comes after the release of RB Jordan Howard.

Chris Thompson, a running back, has been signed by the Chicago Bears.

According to the NFL waiver wire, the Chicago Bears have added veteran running back Chris Thompson to the practice squad. The Bears had four running backs in for workouts this week, and Thompson was their second tryout, so he must have impressed.

Deon Bush, a safety, has been put on the injured reserve list by Chicago. The Bears have promoted defensive back Teez Tabor to the active roster to replace his position on the roster.

With running backs David Montgomery and Damien Williams remaining on injured reserve and under COVID-19 procedures, the signing of another RB to Chicago’s practice squad was expected. Khalil Herbert, a rookie who has shined in recent weeks, will handle the weight, with Ryan Nall and Artavis Pierce backing him up.

Robert Quinn, one of the team’s best pass rushers, was also put on the reserve/COVID-19 list, although he might still play in Week 7 if he tests negative twice before the game.

Thompson has a knack for catching passes in the backfield.

Thompson served four years as a member of the Florida State football team. In 2013, the Washington Football Team selected him in the fifth round. He was a seven-year starter at Washington, carrying 250 times for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns.

Thompson was one of the league’s best receiving backs for a brief period, especially in 2017, when he had over 500 receiving yards. During his stint with WFT, he caught 232 receptions for 1,918 yards and 11 touchdowns. Last season, Washington released him, and he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he appeared in eight games and rushed seven times for 20 yards while receiving 20 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown.

An injury to the back He was placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season in Week 10. Before going to Chicago, he spent some time on the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers. Unless the Bears’ backfield suffers another sickness or injury, he is unlikely to make the roster.

With Bush gone, what role will Tabor play?

The Bears’ loss of Bush is important. He’s been a critical depth component for them in previous years, both in the secondary and on special teams, and this season has been no exception.

This season, Bush has been on 44 percent of the team’s defensive snaps and 63 percent of special teams snaps. He’s done a good job filling in for starter Tashaun Gipson when he’s been out, but he’ll be out for at least the next three games. However, he is expected to return this season, which is a positive omen.

Tabor will most likely take Bush’s place on the defensive special teams in the interim. Tabor, a second-round selection of the Detroit Lions in 2017, hasn’t played in a game since 2018, and in his two seasons, he’s only made five starts and appeared in 22 games. He hasn’t had any recent or significant ailments; he merely failed to meet expectations in Detroit. He won’t get as much time in the secondary as Marqui Christian or DeAndre Houston-Carson, but he may if they both go down.
