FAIL: White House fails at refuting Obama’s own words.

Tuesday, August 4, 2009
By Dan

Linda Douglass, White House Communication Director for Healthcare Propaganda, released a three minute video today, (below), attacking yesterday’s viral video (also below) showing Obama’s own words on the Trojan Hopes™ of a public option.

Obama’s video is damning and here is why: you can say a million times that you love your wife. You can talk about how faithful you are, how she completes you and how you were made for each other. You can write her love letters and sing her songs. But once you have sex with the Argentinian newscaster and call HER your soulmate, the jig is up.

Linda Douglass’s feeble, patronizing attempt at a rebuttal is just a rehash of the old love letters. It doesn’t matter how many times Obama lied about not wanting to have a single-payer system: he was lying. And bringing up the bullcrap about people facing rising healthcare cost is cheap politics. If you’re going to try to refute an accusation with cheap parlor tricks, try to at least stick with one cheap parlor trick. (And by the way, Linda, we noticed the sarcasm about bloggers having a lot of free time on our hands. Don’t worry, soon enough, you will too.)

To put a more clear analogy together, let’s say a husband named Barry is caught cheating on his wife, say Michelle, with a woman, let’s call her Linda. There is a video of the two having an intimate dinner. On the tape, Barry swears his undying love for his mistress Linda over and over again. He says “Linda, I’ve always loved you. I only married Michelle to be near you.”

Michelle finds the tape, watches it and gets very, very angry. Barry feigns confusion and tells Michelle, “nothing could be farther from the truth.” He says “this is all disinformation perpetrated by people with computers and a lot of free time;” “they’re taking sentences out of context and cobbling them together to leave a very false impression.” “The truth is,” Barry tells Michelle, “I have been telling so many people so much about how much I love you, that these people take my word, they take a phrase here and there and take them out of context.”

Barry then goes on to show Michelle clips from their wedding video and other videos of Barry and Michelle together. He shows her that time they were in the park feeding the squirrels. (He doesn’t show her that later that day he met up with Linda and plotted to kill Michelle). See what he did there? If Michelle falls for it, she’s an idiot. You cannot refute the truth with a lie. The fact the the Obama White House thinks the American public is dumb enough to fall for this is insulting.
