If Jeff Bezos wrote Obama’s apology for the Gates arrest comments
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos apologized today for remotely deleting customer’s Kindle books, including, ironically, works by Orwell. Here is what he might have written for Obama, had Obama actually apologized for saying the Cambridge police acted “stupidly”:
This is an apology for the way I handled the questions regarding the completely legal arrest of Professor Henry Louis Gates. My “answer” to the question was stupid, thoughtless, and painfully out of line with reality. This error was wholly self-inflicted, and I deserve the criticism I have received. I will use the lessons learned from this painful mistake to help make better decisions going forward, ones that match my mission. With deep apology to our citizens, Barack Obama President.
What Obama actually said, was far from an apology. He reiterated that he thought the police officer overreacted. Then he had the Audacity™ to say that he thought this was a “teaching moment” and everyone else should listen more and not jump to conclusions. This from the man who, not two days before, said “I wasn’t there and don’t know the facts, but the Cambridge police behaved stupidly.” Mr. President, teach thyself.
